My first fashion film!

by on May 31, 2015
As some of you may know, I am currently a second year on a BA Hons fashion degree, and in my latest module, we were asked to create a fashio...
Recently I was asked by the lovely ladies at May Beauty if I would like to try their new 'Incredible face mask' and review it on my blog. The first thing that I would like to say is that this is a completely 100% honest review and I was not coerced in any way into giving a positive review, however I really do love this product and was so excited to share it with you all!

The face mask promised to:

- prevent acne
- removes blackheads and whiteheads
- removes dead skin cells and impurities
- and make your skin clearer, smoother and healthier.
If you want to read more about the product for yourself, check it out here.
So here's what I thought....

The first thing I noticed was the handy little brush it came with, and trust me this was a little lifesaver. The consistency was super thick and jet black and therefore felt very odd, however I brushed a thick amount onto my face and gave it a go anyway. The mixture set after 35-45 minutes into a peel off mask and after peeling it off, I was amazed!

I can honestly promise you that I have never used a face mask as good as this. I suffer with sensitive skin and I constantly get spots, not acne, and not badly but I always have those pesky few that will just not go away. I've also had problems with dry skin sitting on my nose lately, which would not go, but my nose would still get oily and therefore moisturisers were not helping. After peeling the face mask off, my face was bright red and I thought, 'oh gosh, what have I done' but after about 10 minutes the redness went and my skin had never been so soft and smooth. The next day I woke up and my boyfriend actually said to me 'wow your skins looking good today' and I knew straight away, it was the mask. It's now a few days later after I used it and my spots have completely gone, and all I have it some slight redness where they were!!

The only slight issue I had with the mask was that it set so well, that it was painful to take off. So to remove it without pain, I used a cotton wool pad with some cleanser and rubbed this on the edge of the mask before peeling it off gently. This was then perfectly fine I had no problems.

I would definitely recommend this mask to anyone! I couldn't get any before and after pictures because I wouldn't say my skin is bad enough to show up on camera, however I will definitely be using this mask again myself!!! The mask also comes with a lovely little book informing you of how to change your diet for acne and skin problems and therefore is definitely worth a read if you suffer with skin problems!

A few days ago I nipped into the TK Maxx in town and found these duo fibre Real Techniques brushes. The set was only £16.99 so of course I had to pick it up! I've been wanting to try these brushes for a while as i'm a major fan of the good old Real Techniques brushes and so I've given them a little test ride to feed back to you.

Firstly, I love that they're black and white. This might seem like a silly little thing to mention, but they look lovely on my dressing table and that makes me a very happy chappy! The second thing that I noticed is the feel of them. They are incredibly soft and the bristles are so fine and fluffy that you can barely see the tip of the fibre. Therefore they of course feel glorious on your skin.

In terms of application I couldn't be happier. I will only be using them for powder make up of course, and instead of using the face powder brush for, well, face powder, i'll be using it for blush, as my good old powder brush from RT is a lot bigger and better for me. These brushes however, do make the application of my make up absolutely flawless and I will definitely be investing in more. I also want to give the newer Bold metals collection a try as well.

Have any of you tried these? What do you think?

So I just finished my week 4 pre training on the Kayla Itsines BBG and now i'm onto the real, 12 week guide.

Although I don't quite feel strong enough to start the 12 week guide I'm going to give it a go and see how I get on. My knee has had some problems though, probably due to not taking Kaylas advice and stretching out properly, but I'll just keep an eye on it and keep going! As promised here's a before and after pic after just the 4 week pre training. Not the best comparison photo but I can definitely notice a difference!

I'll keep updating you on my progress and any new things I try or do! My latest guilty pleasure is the new Innocent super smoothies, especially the Cherry one! They are full of sugar which isn't great but they're a lovely treat to have when you're craving a bit of sugar !

What are your tips for when you're craving some sugar?

The other day I was sat in Uni, thinking 'hmmm someone smells of Chanel mademoiselle' and almost had a little heart attack, because that's my favourite perfume, and I ran out and of course being a fashion student making their end of year collection, I do not have the money to buy another bottle. So imagine my surprise when I state out loud how much I love that perfume, and the girl wearing 'it' turns around and says 'Tash, my perfume is from Lidl.' I almost had a heart attack, and very nearly fainted.

But lo and behold, it was there in Lidl, just chillin' at £3.99. So of course I bought a bottle (as well as another £4 wonder that smelt glorious in every way.)

Left: Mademoiselle dupe, 50ml bottle as well! Right: Gorgeous as well!

Have you tried it? What do you think?

Lengthy post with lots of writing, be warned!!! So, I've just finished week 2 of my Kayla Itsines BBG, so as promised here's a little update! (Bare in mind that i'm doing the 4 week pre-training before I get into the actual ACTUAL hardcore, psh like the pre-training isn't hardcore as it is!) For any of you that haven't seen my first post, you can check it out here.

This week I lost my ways a little bit, (woe is me) and went out drinking for bank holiday (don't even try and tell me you didn't indulge even just a little bit), to be fair, I did only go out on the Sunday night, and I didn't have any Easter chocolate this year so i'm going to praise myself for that, but the problem was, once I started eating a little bit bad, I couldn't stop myself, so now bank holiday is over and i'm starting week 3 of the pre-training, i'm back to eating well again!

Week 2:

I found that I did A LOT better this week than the week before. I was still struggling with leg day but only as much as I should be to be changing my body. I did however, stretch properly this time and although I was a little sore, I could walk just fine and managed to get down the stairs without any assistance, so the moral of the story is, STRETCH. I did find arm and abs day easier than last week though, probably because I knew what to expect!

I'm also super excited that the weather is getting warmer and I can walk back from the gym without a coat on and without freezing my t*** off! It's a lot nicer coming back from the gym in that weather and the good weather definitely motivates you to get up and move! Maybe that's why Kayla manages to work out every day, she does live in Australia after all!

Anyways, that's all to report this week! Check back for my week 3 pre-training post!!

Check out Kaylas blog here for some great recipes and tips too!

Kayla Itsines BBG WK 2

Lengthy post with lots of writing, be warned!!! So, I've just finished week 2 of my Kayla Itsines BBG, so as promised here's a littl...
You may have seen the hype around the Kayla Itsines bikini body guide recently, unless you've been living under a very large rock, it's everywhere! If you're not familiar however, Kayla Itsines is an Australian personal trainer, she's is absolutely stunning, and a total credit to the fitness industry. She has put together a 12 week bikini body guide e-book, that is sure to give you a gorgeous body just in time for summer, and if you stick to it, your bound to get the fitness bug and carry on afterwards!

Check Kayla out on her instagram: @kayla_itsines
There's some great transformations on here too if you want to see what she's all about!

I've recently started the guide and thought I'd keep you updated on my progress and view on everything as I go along. I have just finished my first week, (i'm doing the 4 weeks pre training first) and my god, I definitely underestimated the difficulty of the programme and didn't realise how unfit I actually was! Considering this is only the pre training i'm doing at the moment, but regardless this first week has actually been pretty fun! It's fun to see how much you can actually do, and how hard you can push yourself! I did make a major mistake though and didn't stretch out after leg day and couldn't walk for the next few days, stairs were NOT my friend, so make sure to read the guides thoroughly and be sure to stretch out!

The best part about these is that most of it can be done from home, and you don't need ridiculous amounts of equipment, just the basics, such as weights and a yoga mat, but even then, there are substitutes you can find around the house!

I haven't been super strict with the nutrition guide and copying exactly what is in it, but I can tell you now this is a nutrition guide like no other! She doesn't starve you by any means, you can still eat a lot more than you would think to get the results, I was pleasantly surprised to see this nutrition guide!

Check out her blog and website here for more info and to purchase the guide for yourself, and i'll keep you updated with my progress and thoughts!!

I started the New Year, much like everyone else, on a bit of a health kick. Not because i'd made a new years resolution to stay fit and healthy and attend the gym constantly and never eat chocolate again, but because I was spending almost every night feeling sick, I was constantly tired, even after sleeping all night and morning, and I had no motivation to do anything. I was also addicted to sugar, and caffeine and it was not good for my body, so I had to do something about it.

I've always been a follower of Skinny me tea, however the shipping was just too long, being from Australia, so I tested out the UK version 'Bootea', the funny little play on words got me attracted, and the ingredients to the tea sounded similar to a variety of other teatoxes, so I gave it a go!

Bootea - £19.99 for 14 days.
I only got the 14 day pack as I didn't want to invest too much money into something I had never tried before. I stuck to the eating plan (free on the website) within reason, and as stated, I had a cup of the morning tea every morning and the bedtime cleanse every other night. I hated green tea before starting this teatox, and I couldn't get up without my normal cup of tea or coffee, but after a few days I started to enjoy the taste of green tea, and even now after finishing my teatox I'm drinking green tea instead of regular. In fact, I've been off my teatox for over a week, and I haven't had a single cup of tea or coffee since I came off it!

The morning tea is lemon and ginger flavoured and the evening is peppermint. There is a lot of controversy about the bedtime cleanse as it does infact have senna leaves in it, but I can honestly tell you, it did not have a laxative effect on me. It's different for everyone as everyones bodies absorb things differently, but it didn't have a laxative effect at all.

The result: For me the result wasn't so much about weight loss, it was more about kicking my caffeine and sugar addiction, and generally becoming a more healthy me. I have continued with the drinking of the green tea (normal green tea though, not their mix of all different ingredients) and I am also continuing to eat healthy with the odd treats here and there. I also did infact lose an inch around my waist and i'm looking generally healthier!!

If you aren't looking for a dramatic weight loss, and more of a kick start in the right direction, then definitely give this a go! I'm hoping to do another one soon, maybe more towards summer. For now I'm keeping it going at the gym and enjoying a healthier lifestyle!

That's all for now!

BOOTEA - My January Teatox

by on January 22, 2015
I started the New Year, much like everyone else, on a bit of a health kick. Not because i'd made a new years resolution to stay fit and ...
Now, from the title you might be thinking; "Paul's Boutique?!?! In Topshop?!?!?! That's not something I ever thought i'd hear!" but it is true, and the collection is gorgeous! I'm not one for Pauls Boutique, I normally do not like the brand, but this collection is right up my street!

Here's the collection:

I was contacted about the new collection and was sent a small interview (below) with Ram Khalif, the concession manager for the Topshop store holding the Pauls Boutique concession, featuring the gorgeous bags you see above!

                                                                      Life before Paul’s Boutique:
Even though I was enjoying working at Accessorize on Bond Street as the Assistant Manager, I always think of my life before Paul’s Boutique as pretty dull! My heart has always been in fashion accessories and consumer-facing roles,
but there’s something special about the buzz surrounding this brand.

Why did you choose PB?
I felt like the brand really fitted with my personality. I’m quite outgoing and happy to chat to anyone and Paul’s Boutique bags are such conversation starters that I felt I’d be a good person to push sales and promote new lines. Plus, I like managing a team and think I’m firm but fair. The concession is a major part of day-to-day brand life so it’s something the team and myself take a lot of pride in.

Which Paul’s Boutique handbags are the bestsellers at Topshop?
The famous Maisy bag in patent nude and black are consistently popular. This is the same for the sales on the website too – it’s so timeless and classic so has wide appeal. Our current seasonal bestsellers include the Natasha tote in Blue/Black Ombre and the Leather Brooke (our highest price point at £195). The slouchy Porter bowler bag in black suede is up there too – it’s so chic and luxurious, yet works as a day-to-day essential.

What do you think? Did you like Pauls Boutique anyway, or would you convert to the dark side for this stunning collection?
